EVOLUTION OF VIDEO - 5 TRENDS FOR THE COMING MONTHS

Video and video marketing is evolving fast. AI, VR and user generated content is already huge and, as video production professionals, we need to be prepared, adapt and learn to work WITH the current and evolving trends to continue to be profitable.

There will always be a place for professional videos produced with a level of passion, creativity and knowledge of how to effectively share important business messages that only comes with experience, but below are 5 trends that businesses and video producers alike need to embrace to stay ahead of the game and stand out amongst the competition.

AI-DRIVEN CONTENT CREATION:

OK, so the above image may be a little tongue-in-cheek, but Artificial intelligence will play a more significant role in video production. Tools that use AI for editing, script generation, voiceovers, and even content personalization will become more mainstream. While this may seem a frightening prospect for professional producers, if we learn how to embrace and work WITH it rather than against it, it could help to make our businesses more productive and  profitable.

EXTENDED REALITY (XR) EXPERIENCES:

Extended Reality, encompassing Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR), will become more integrated into video content. Expect to see more immersive storytelling, interactive environments, and enhanced viewer engagement, particularly in gaming, education, and virtual events.

LIVE STREAMING AND INTERACTIVE VIDEO:

Live streaming will continue to grow, with enhancements in interactivity and quality. Features like real-time polls, quizzes, Q&A sessions, live shopping, and augmented reality overlays will become more common, making live streams more engaging and interactive. Shoppable videos, where viewers can click on products directly within the video to purchase them, will grow in popularity, enhancing the e-commerce experience.

MICRO-CONTENT AND SNACKABLE VIDEOS:

Short-form video content will remain dominant, especially on platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. These quick, engaging snippets are perfect for capturing attention in a fast-paced digital world. Brands and creators will focus on creating more concise, impactful content that can be consumed on-the-go. They are also invaluable tools to lead consumers to more in-depth video content.

SUSTAINABLE VIDEO PRODUCTION:

Environmental consciousness will influence video production practices. The industry will see a shift towards eco-friendly methods, such as using virtual sets, remote production techniques, and renewable energy sources. This trend reflects the growing importance of sustainability across all sectors, including media and entertainment.
